Peach of a performance wins bronze medal for swimmer Chloe

A bronze medal for Chloe Peach was the highlight of a string of fine performances by youngsters representing Sutton Swimming Club at the East Midlands Regional Championships in Sheffield.

Peach won her medal in the final of the 100m backstroke for swimmers aged 17 and over, clocking a new personal-best (PB) time. And her effort won praise from the club’s head coach, Lee Bunker, who said: “The medal is a real credit to Chloe. It is just reward for all of her hard work and determination in the training pool.”

Peach also posted PBs in the 100m butterfly, where she qualified for the final, coming home tenth, in the 200m individual medley, where she finished 14th, and in the 100m breaststroke, where she finished 22nd.

Other Sutton swimmers to shine included Tom Trueman, who qualified for the 14-year-old finals of the 100m butterfly, where he improved his PB to finish seventh, the 100m backstroke, where he finished eighth, and the 100m freestyle, where he was ninth.

In the 16-year-olds’ age group, Josh Leeson swam a new PB time to qualify for the final of the 200m backstroke, where he finished eighth. He was also 13th in the 200m individual medley and 14th in the 100m butterfly, while Connor Marsh clocked a PB to finish 19th in the 100m breaststroke.
