“Their hard work in training after the Christmas period has definitely paid off, with lots of new, long-course personal-best times being set.”

The standout swimmer was 12-year-old Potter, who landed five golds and a bronze to dominate his age group. In a busy schedule, he demonstrated a professional approach to each of his swims and recorded personal-best times in every event.

Sutton’s other gold medal was won by 11-year-old Thomas Swales, who also added two silvers to his collection and smashed his previous personal-best times as he continued to show potential for future success in the sport.

Sixteen-year-old Tom Trueman also enjoyed a profitable weekend, returning home with two silvers and two bronzes in his age group to cap a fantastic season.

There were also silver medals for 11-year-old Ellis Senior, 12-year-old Harrison Clarke and 13-year-old Harry McKearney.

Sutton’s best performing girl swimmer over the weekend was 15-year-old Sarah Holmes, winning a silver medal in the 50m backstroke final, as well as three bronze medals. She is rapidly developing into a highly competitive swimmer.

The only other Sutton girl to pocket a medal was 15-year-old Talitha Oud, who claimed a bronze in the 200m butterfly event.
