The big-hitting batsman was named the club’s T20 Player Of The Year after spearheading the Outlaws' charge to Vitality Blast glory.

And Franks believes the former Worcestershire Rapids man has plenty more to offer his new club.

“There is a lot more to come from Joe, not just in the Blast but in all formats, and I am really excited for what the future holds for him,” said Franks.

“He's got a settled position now in the line-up and his ability to go for the big shots and clear the ropes stood out.

“We want the lads to attract the boundary and his ability to do that gave the confidence to the lads around him.

“He gave us a real platform to build on and has improved because he is young and hungry.

“You see what he is trying to implement in practice and he has a better understanding of his game.

“You improve from failure, if you have the right mindset and I'm really pleased for him.

“He was in his second year and had previous success in this format. He wanted to show he was a serious operator and to win the Blast again was very satisfying for Joe.”

Franks believes Clarke set the tone from the very first match when he smashed a ton to guide Notts to victory at Durham.

“The way he went about it from the start stood out,” he added. “He looked at challenges he had faced before and tried to enhance himself as a player.

He marked everyone's card when he made the 100 at Durham and it gave him confidence in practice and how he was trying to play. The confidence just flowed through his game.

The quality of his striking, not just down the middle, but all around the wicket, meant they just couldn't bowl to him.

“He played very well that day and the players just played around him and we cruised to a win.”
