Missed chances cost Shirebrook on final day
Shirebrook Town ended the season with a 3-1 defeat against Clifton All Whites after paying the price for missed chances.
Shirebrook made a bright start and really should have taken the lead in the third minute when Kian Tansley was beaten in a 1 on 1 with the Clifton keeper.

In the 12th minute Joe Godfrey sent Tansley through 1 on 1 with the Clifton keeper again but this time Tansley failed to find the target with his shot
Midway through the half Cole Jarvis became the latest Shirebrook players to see a shot saved by the Clifton keeper.
As the game was heading towards the break Shirebrook took the lead in the 43rd minute when a cross from the right found Liam Widdowson who’s volley was brilliantly saved, however the rebound fell to Tansley who fired in the rebound to claim his 20th goal of the season.
Just when it looked like Shirebrook were going to go into the break with the lead Clifton levelled the score in first half stoppage time when a cross from the right wasn’t dealt with allowing Conner Randall to volley past Harrison Kissane.
As the second half got underway Shirebrook made another bright start. The half was just five minutes old when Jarvis spotted the Clifton keeper off his line but couldn’t get his effort on target. Joe Godfrey also went close however as the half went on Clifton were starting to get on top with Jaiden Campbell-Ryce and Miguel Odia Coly both having chances.
And in the 71st minute Clifton took the lead when Coly managed to turn his man and fire past Kissane.
With just over 20 minutes to try and get back into the game Shirebrook had chances to pull a goal back with Tansley seeing a free kick tipped over the bar.
Their best chance came in the 86th minute when Liam Childes was played in down the right hand side he cut inside onto his left foot but, with just the keeper to beat,vChildes couldn’t keep his shot down.
In injury time Clifton made the game safe as they got their third goal when Milo Baker played a 1-2 with Corbi Brown and when the ball was played back to Baker he found himself in on goal and made no mistake to condemn Shirebrook to defeat.
