It was the first time Leatherland had taken to a circuit this year as he gears up for the Supersport Championship in three weeks time.

He said: "I was quick to get back to speed setting a time that put me P5 in the combined times, just 0.3 off the fastest time of the day.

"Silverstone is a track that requires a good slipstream to be fast so my goal was to work on setting fast laps on my own as I shouldn't always rely on one.

"Silverstone has never been a great track for me so to be so fast at my weakest track is a great achievement and shows great potential for the season ahead."

Due COVID-19 the British Championship has been cut down to a five round series with 10 races in total.
