Ten venues that are part of Burhill Golf and Leisure Limited (BGL), as well as its leisure subsidiary, Adventure Leisure Ltd, were at the awards presentation, held in Hertfordshire.

The 36-hole Ramsdale Park complex took one of the most coveted accolades for best net promoter score, a metric based on feedback from members, measuring customer experience and predicting business growth.

The venue’s adventure golf supervisor, Shaun McFarlane, was also personally honoured with the outstanding customer experience of the year award.

This followed the quick thinking and kindness he showed when rushing out to buy a new cake for a wedding at Ramsdale after the couple’s original cake had collapsed, almost ruining their day.

The club’s employee of the year award went to food and beverage manager Steven Brindley-Bates, who has been the driving force behind a customer-focused approach, ensuring the highest of standards.

BGL also presented a special recognition accolade to club favourite and long-standing member of the greenkeeping team, David Marshall, who has completed 25 years of service. And to cap the event, the club was presented with the sales team of the year award too.

Theresa Plimmer, Ramsdale Park’s general manager, said: “It has been a fantastic year, and we have had some great successes. We continue to raise the bar and aim higher.”
