Ollerton stay on promotion trail

Ollerton played Woodhouse Giants at home in the Midland 5 league and won 31-20.

This earned Ollerton a bonus point also and keeps them in third place, chasing promotion.

This was a tight game with Ollerton coming out on top by scoring five tries to Woodhouse’s two.

The first half was really close, captain Alex Berry scored the first try for Ollerton, converted by Ellis Metcalfe.

Woodhouse replied with a try out wide and a penalty try, both converted.

Ollerton hit back with two more tries from lock Jim Wigglesworth and full back David Wilson, plus one conversion from Metcalfe to make it 19-14 at the break.

In the second half Ollerton scored a penalty try and a try out wide from winger Harvey Metcalfe plus a conversion from Scott Rickets. Woodhouse replied with a splendid drop goal and a penalty. Man of the match went to Ollerton’s scrum half Jack Cranmer.
