Ollerton RUFC win feisty derby with Meden Vale

Ollerton RUFC won 17-5 in their local derby at home to Meden Vale in the Midland 5 league.

This was a feisty game but with both teams playing some good open rugby at times.

It was Ollerton who scored first just after kick-off, Kalunga Bwalya going over in the corner for a try.

Vale replied with an interception try which was converted and just before the break Vale pinched a lineout and crashed over in the corner to lead 12-5.

In the second half it was close again until the last 20 minutes.

Ollerton’s fly half Josh Metcalfe produced a chip and chase and dived on the ball for a try, which he converted.

Things got a bit heated and there were a couple of yellow cards dished out to calm things down. Ollerton scored the last try with flanker Alex Berry picking up a loose ball and racing half the pitch to score.

Man of the match went to No.8 and skipper Stuart Parker.
