Nomads (Mansfield) Cricket Club hold farewell event

Nomads Cricket Club was founded in 1956, and played at the Racecourse in Mansfield. In 2015 they moved to Newstead Colliery Recreation Ground in Newstead Village.
Nomads played in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League. Unfortunately, over the last few years, it had become very difficult to attract new players to the club, and it became increasingly difficult to field a team of 11 every Saturday. At the end of the 2024 season, a discussion took place among the remaining players and it was decided that it would be impossible to field a team in the Bassetlaw League in 2025. The Club was therefore wound up.
The Club had a number of assets which were kept at Newstead Recreation Ground, and these had to be sold and removed. This task was completed in 2025.
On Saturday 21st February, using the funds obtained through the sale of equipment, the Club held a Social Evening at the Rushley Inn in Mansfield. All ex-Nomads players who we could contact were invited, and a free Buffet and drinks were provided.

Nomads CC are pleased that 40 ex players turned up on the night, and a most enjoyable evening ensued. Players came from many eras of the Club, and a lot of happy memories were recalled. Among the 40 players at the event, there were 11 Ex Captains of the team, and these are pictured above.
