New Magpies boss Fullarton eager to start

New Notts County boss Jamie Fullarton says he has been impressed by his players' attitude in his first few days with the club.

County travel to Crawley Town on Saturday for Fullarton’s first game in charge, aiming to start improving the Magpies’ poor away form.

And having enjoyed a good week of training with his new charges, he can’t wait to get started.

He said: “I am really looking forward to it. When it comes to the football side of things, and I mean preparing for matches and training, it’s why we love the job we do.

“I must say they haven’t disappointed me in that respect. Their attitude has been excellent. Their response to my demands has been first class.

“That’s what it boils down to; hard work and preparation. Applying it then becomes key.

“I am aware of the away form and the only way we can change it is by hard work, what we do every day on the training field and the players responding to that.

“They have to do the best they can in everything they do. I am reiterating that again because that’s what I asked of them on my first day.

“Everything we do during the week it is important they take it on board and apply it come Saturday.”

On the visit to Crawley, Fullarton added: “They had a very good result against Cambridge at home. They have a threat and strength in their strike pairing and how they like to play.

“We are aware of their strengths and we will look to counteract those as well as hopefully impose ourselves on the game in an attacking sense.”
