Tom and Ben Birchall hailed as pride of Mansfield

The brothers, Tom and Ben, achieved their fourth TT race triumph in the Isle of Man after passing their nearest rivals and cruised past the chequered flag to glory on their LCR Honda with a commanding lead of 38.784 seconds in the Sure Sidecar TT 2 race on Friday 10 June.

Mayor Allsop said: “It was a fantastic achievement and the whole of Mansfield is rightly proud of these local heroes and who are - literally - leaders of the field in the world of sidecar racing.

“We congratulate them and wish them many more successes in the future.”

Ben Birchall said: “I am just so thrilled and honoured to win another TT. Tom has done a brilliant job and the team has worked really hard. It was non stop all week and it’s been tough but that’s what the TT is about. I can’t thank my team enough!”

“We want to thank all of our sponsors who’ve made it possible for us to be at the TT and thank you to everybody else who’s helped to put us here. It’s been brilliant.”

Tom Birchall added: “We are absolutely jubilant. The support on the last lap was awesome.”

The brothers will return to their world championship challenge with a visit to Rijeka in Croatia this weekend where they currently hold the lead in the F2 Sidecar World Trophy class.
