Teenager Taz chalks up another win

Taylor (17) won the race comfortably by 4.5 seconds from his nearest rival, leading from start to finish to extend his lead in the Championship to 23 points.

The youngster was looking strong all weekend in the Motostar class and slowly built his way up during the mixed weather conditions on the Saturday during practice.

In qualifying on the Sunday and in the first session he was 1.3 seconds faster than the second placed man and in the second session set pole position by 0.6 from Ed Rendell.

In the race Taylor made a great start and was dominant throughout the 14-laps, setting a new lap record in the process of 1.45.345.

He looked so strong and fired up that by lap nine he had pulled a 7.3 second lead over his nearest rival.

A delighted Taylor said: “I’m over the moon with how the weekend has gone here at Oulton Park.

“I really do like the circuit and the RS Racing KTM has been working so well here.

“I really wanted to try to get away from the start so I did not get stuck in any chaos on the opening laps.

“I got my head down, managed to set a new lap record and just wanted to stay consistent. I kept an eye on my lap board and just carried on putting in consistent lap times.

“I would like to say a huge thank you again to all my sponsors and my family for making this possible. I really am enjoying my racing this year and the bike is brilliant. I can’t wait to get to Snetterton in a new weeks time.”

Taylor had made a spectacular start to the new season with two podium places at Donington Park.

The youngster finished in a fantastic second place in race one on Sunday and then a strong third in race two.

Then in the second round at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, the teenager secured his first ever Motostar race win on the Saturday in only his third race riding a Moto3 bike, followed by a very close second during the Sunday race.
