Ryde was dealt a huge blow earlier this month when Ranieri Med withdrew from the competition, canceling his contract with the team.

And Ryde can’t wait to get back on the bike.

He said: “I am really very happy to be part of the Schmidt Racing Team and to race at Donington Park, which is my home track.

“For sure it will be hard because the bike and the team are new for me, but I’m sure the team will help me to be competitive right from the first practice and I think I’m lucky to debut at Donington as it’s a track I know very well and that I like.

“I’ll do my best to take advantage of the great opportunity that I have been offered and for which I want to thank the Schmidt Racing team and all my sponsors, who have made this possible.”

Ryde has an impressive CV for an 18-year-old.

He won the British national 125 Championship in 2011, the British Superstock 600 Championship in 2014, finished in second position in 2015 British Supersport championship and reached the podium in the World Supersport race at Donington Park last year.

He debuted this year on a permanent basis in the World SS championship and has so far collected six points in the overall standings. He will partner 2011 125cc World Champion Nico Terol on the Schmidt Racing MV Agusta F3 675 bike.

Schmidt Racing Team didn’t hesitate to snap the talented teen up.

Team manager Robert Balogh said: “I’m really happy to welcome Kyle Ryde to our team. He’s undoubtedly one of the most talented and promising young riders in the World Supersport Championship. I have been following his progress since last year, when he made his debut in WorldSS at Donington Park, reaching the third step of the podium.

“With Terol and Ryde my team now has one of the best pairs of riders and I am sure that with them we can achieve great results.”

Jonathan Rea added: “Of course it is never ideal to change teams during the season, but I am sure that together with Schmidt Racing, Kyle can start to, firstly, enjoy his racing again and alsoreach his full potential in a new team that shares the same goals as him. I would like to thank Robert and the team at Schmidt Racing, Dorna and everyone who has made this possible and who believe in Kyle as one of the most talented young riders in the world.”
