Chris Walker misses out on Showdown place, despite shining at Donington Park

Ollerton MCE British Superbike rider Chris Walker missed out on one of the top six Showdown spots last weekend as thousands flocked to Donington Park for round nine of the MCE British Superbike Championship.

’The Stalker’, who claimed two sixth positions two weeks ago at Cadwell Park went to his local circuit and one of his all time favourites with a possibility of making a Showdown slot, and his Quattro Plant Kawasaki Team ZX-10R showed promise all weekend.

M Heavy rain all day on Friday saw the Quattro Plant Kawasaki Team never leave the pit garage, missing out on two free practice sessions.

Saturday morning saw sunny weather with a dry track as Walker finished 14th fastest out of the 29 riders with a time of 1:31:121 and a speed of 98.26mph.

Qualifying on Saturday afternoon went very well for him with 11th position and seventh place on the grid for the first of two 20 lap races on Sunday.

Race one saw Walker make a strong start and move into sixth also immediately and stay there until lap five when Derby rider Jon Kirkham pushed him back to seventh, where he stayed for the rest of the race, seeing off a challenge from Jakub Smrz.

Race two saw Chris finish in eighth position making it four top 10 finishes in a row.

Pete Extance, team manager for Quattro Plant Kawasaki, said: “It was a great weekend for Quattro Plant Kawasaki and Chris again being extremely consistent all weekend.”

 Chris now will focus on the Riders Cup where he is in a good position of securing it.

Walker leaves Donington Park still in 9th position with 123 points in the Championship.

Round 10 sees the riders and teams cross the channel to Assen, Holland on 21st/22nd September.

Following that Walker will be action back on home soil at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on 4th-6th October and the final round at Brands Hatch 18th-20th October.
