The Zygabyte A show rolled on after the Second Round of fixtures in the Divisional Cup of the Mansfield and District Table Tennis League.
A second maximum 9-0 maximum victory, this time over Jacksdale C, sent Zygabyte seven points clear at the top of the First Division already.
The other game played in the top flight was another 9-0 whitewash as Jacksdale B routed Ravenshead Rhinos to move up to second place. The player-of-the-match award went to Jacksdale’s new signing Ker-Wei Chien.
Division Two is much tighter after the first two sets of fixtures, with Snipers of St Josephs hitting top spot after a narrow 5-4 victory over River Maun. It all boiled down to the final doubles leg, which Tony Swain and Dean Marsh won 3-0 against Michael Rand and Michael Jarunek.
Not far behind Snipers are Ravenshead Rebels and Ravenshead Angels, who clashed in a local derby. Again, the score was 5-4 and again, the outcome hinged on the last leg, in which Rebels’ duo Mike Cohen and Val Tully edged out Anne Lindley and Maggie Burrows 3-2.
Rebels were also successful in one orthodox Division Two match, postponed from the previous week. They beat Jacksdale D 6-4, despite the efforts of Hari Rampall, who won all his games and was backed up by league debutant Lewis Toop.
