STUDENTS from Tibshelf Community School have narrowly missed winning a table tennis competition.

The Bolsover Secondary Schools’ Table Tennis Competition was held at Springwell Community School in Chesterfield in partnership with the Colin Deaton Academy of Table Tennis.

Tibshelf Community School, along with Bolsover School, Frederick Gent School, Heritage High School, Shirebrook Academy, all took part and around 80 students were involved.

The Tibshelf team, made up of Connor Perkins, Lucas King, Edward Hook and Anthony Crick, were the winners and went through to the Regional Final of the English Schools Table Tennis Championships.

They went on to the semi-finals of the competition but were defeated by De Ferrers School from Burton-On-Trent.

A school spokeswoman said: “They should however be very proud of their achievement in reaching the national competition and were a real credit to the school.”
