Sutton Swimming Club look to build on race succeess

SUTTON Swimming Club will be looking to build on their recent race successes over the next 12 months following a recent run of good results.

The club were on top form as they claimed second spot at the Major Oak competition in Mansfield last weekend.

During the event the faced 23 other teams from across the country and missed out on a top place finish by just one point after their swimmers performed in fine style to meet a number of Midland qualifying times.

The success was spurred on by Sarah Baird, who claimed an impressive six first place trophies, closely followed by Emily James with five race wins.

Dominant Sarah also won a first place prize of £25 - winning the 12/13 yrs girls skins knockout tournament,

Mia Fergie easily won the 50m fly in the 10 year-old category with a dominant swim, whie Becky Quinton again shone by sealing victory in the 50m breaststroke.

Neve Fergie put in a good swim to come second in the 50m backstroke, while Shannon Barett just pipped Nicola Peach to second spot in the fly 9 year-old race.

Rus Golubs put in a fine display coming second in the 200m breast, 100m breast, 50m breast and 100m freestyle, while an impressive Jim Fergie finished second in the 100m fly, 50m fly and 100m free

Sutton swimmers also collected a host of Midland qualifying times, with Sarah Baird taking her tally to seven with the 400m free, 200m free, 100m free, 200m breast, 100m breast, 200m back and 200IM followed by Mia Fergie who collected the 200m fly, 100m fly. 200m breast, 100m breast and 200 IM.

Rus Golubs added the 100m freestyle to his 200m and 100m breaststroke.
