Five members of Sutton Harriers Running Club competed in the Charnwood Marathon at the weekend.
The event seens runners taken on a 27 mile road and trail course with steep hills around the Leicestershire countryside.
Using this as a training run for their Manchester/London Marathons, Paul Beasley, Keith Brown, Steve Williams, Nigel Paylor and Gary Bird started from the Rawlings College, Quorn.
They then passed through Woodhouse Eaves and Nanpantan, along Black Brook before the big climb though Charnwood Lodge National Nature Reserve and onto Bardon Hill Wood.
The final stage went through Copt Oak Wood, Pountney Wood, before, at mile 21, the last climb up to Slidind Stone Wood. The final six miles were Jmostly flat/downhill passing Buddon Wood and onto the finish at Quorn.
Four more Sutton Harriers members were in action competing in the Ashby 20mile road race as a training run for their Manchester Marathons.
Starting in Ashby, the course runs though Packington, uphill to Swepstone and Heather through the village of Normanton-Le-Heath and back into Packington before starting the second lap.
James Simpson finished in 2hrs 32min 19sec, Kate Simpson in 2h 45m 41s, Amanda Alletson in 2h 54m 50s and Donna Atkinson in 3h 44m 25s.
