Rugby club doors open to business

Mansfield Rugby Union Football Club (MRUFC) plans to welcome dozens of business representatives to its first ever ‘SME Day’ on Saturday, 29th October when the first team will be hosting Hereford RUFC in National League 3 (Midlands).

The club is throwing wide its doors to local businesses with an open invitation for them to attend a pre-game reception from 1.30pm onwards, with the game kicking-off at 3pm at the Eakring Road ground.

The aim of the SME Day is to allow local businesses to see for themselves the opportunities the newly promoted club has to offer them.

There will be a complimentary lunchtime buffet and new drinks supplier, Greene King, will be providing every business guest with a free drink.

Guests will also be invited to stay and sample the post match atmosphere and vote for the man of the match award; with one lucky winner having the chance to present the award.

Chairman of MRUFC, Andy Foster says the club is eager to connect with the business community and share with it the success the Blue and Whites have enjoyed of late.

“We believe that small and medium-sized enterprises are the lifeblood of our business community,” said Foster.

“We feel we share a natural affinity with them and want to create the opportunity to work together and generate mutual success.

“Our open day is intended as a ‘get to know you’ opportunity in its broadest sense. Businesses can get to know the club, we can get to know them and they can network with each other.

“MRUFC is one of the most successful amateur sports club in the county and we want to share that success.

“We are already attracting a lot of attention from local businesses, thanks in the main to our incredibly successful last season when we won two trophies and promotion. With more support from the business community we believe we can continue to provide the best possible environment both for senior and youth rugby in the area.

“This is also a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to use the day to bring guests from their own networks, as all will be welcome,” said Andy Foster.
