North Notts Hockey Club make light work of Derby Asterdale

North Notts Hockey Club played their first pre-season friendly on Saturday and enjoyed a comfortable 8-0 victory against Derby Asterdale.

Notts looked strong from the outset after adding new signing Paul Unwin to their squad along with debutant Matt Boardman and the return of Alex Greer after injury.

And it didn’t take Notts long to stamp their authority on the game with Nathan Smith and Alex Greer putting them 2-0 up within seven minutes.

A further goal after 25 minutes from Barton gave Notts a comfortable 3-0 half time lead.

With a shuffle of formation and a superior fitness from the Manor park outfit further goals from Allen Butler, Nathan Smith, Marc Johnson, Joshua Singleton and Jason Barton left Notts finishing the game strongly.

Man of the match Marc Johnson impressed with his tireless running and work rate.

Notts continue their pre season next week against Ashby.

North Notts Hockey Club are seeking new players of all levels for the coming season. The currently field five men’s teams, three ladies teams and junior teams for all ages and abilities.
