Former Mansfield RUFC back row forward Tom Calladine has signed a contract extension with Nottingham RUFC.
Calladine (23), who signed his first professional contract with the club at the start of the campaign, has been a revelation since returning to Meadow Lane from a spell with Linwood in the powerful Canterbury Metropolitan competition in New Zealand last summer.
So much so, that the Mansfield product captained Nottingham in the final regular season fixture against Leeds after also skippering the side for the British and Irish Cup quarter final at Newcastle.
Green and Whites head coach Martin Haag “You only need to look at Tom captaining the side a few times in the last couple of weeks to see that he has done a great job for us.”
Calladine, who has made his name as an impact player with 18 substitute appearances and four starts in the league this season, said: “It’s been a very rewarding season and a very big learning curve for me.
“Coming towards the play-offs I’m really happy to know that I’ll be involved next season, and who knows that could be up there in the Premiership.
“This is the obvious place to want to be with Martin Haag drawing more people to the club. He is a top-flight coach who has taken a Nottingham side with very few big names, just a small and tight squad, so far in a short period of time.”
