Mansfield Harrier’s athlete Archie Rayner competed for the England Schools team at the weekend in Dublin against the best from Scotland, Wales and Ireland. In a very strong field Archie came 21st on his England debut and was part of the successful England team.

Archie has been in fine form this winter producing several outstanding performances and he now hopes to transfer this form onto the track season, where again he is expected to compete with the best in England at his age group.

On the roads three Mansfield athletes competed in the Lincoln 10k on Sunday, with highlight being a new PB for Rachael Chadwick’s of 52.05.

The time represented a great reward for the hard work and consistent training Rachel has put in over the winter.

Supporting Rachael, club stalwart Trevor HIiscox came across the finish line at the same time.

The third runner to compete in the race was Sarah Bradbury, who was running her first 10k race since giving birth to her first child last year.

Sarah achieved her target of a sub 60 minute run completing the course in 59.40. Both Rachael and Sarah can be expected to see further improvement through 2015.

Dave Ward competed in the gruelling Ashby 20 mile race in preparation for his marathon next month. Dave has had a fantastic build up to the marathon, including this race and appears to be peaking at just the right time for the event.

Next weekend see’s one of the highlights in the club calendar with the Midland Men’s 12 stage and Ladies 6 stage road relays. The club will have teams in both events and hopes are high for two good team performances.
