Mansfield and Ashfield swimmers in the medals at Midland Regional Championships

Local swimmers Lily Boseley, Hollie-Mae Dove, Summer Kennedy and Natalee Meldrum secured the final medals of the SRS Leisure 2015 Midland Regional Championships in Coventry last weekend.

Boseley (14) added another three medals to her overall Championship tally, taking silvers in the finals of the Girls 14 years 200m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle, before adding a bronze in the final of the 100m Butterfly.

The Sherwood Colliery and Nova Centurion swimmer bought her Rregional campaign to a close with a fifth place in the final of the 400m Individual Medley.

Hollie-Mae Dove dominated the younger Girls 11/12 years breaststroke events, taking her first victory of the Championships for Sutton SC and Nova Centurion with gold in the final of the 100m event.

She then swam her way to a silver in the 200m and a bronze in the 50m sprint event.

Mansfield SC’s Summer Kennedy added to Nova Centurion’s haul with a silver in the final of the Girls 14 years 400m individual medley and taking finals places in the 100m Freestyle, placing eighth, and the 200m Individual Medley, placing fourth.

Completing the medal count for the Nova Centurion squad was Sherwood Colliery’s Natalee Meldrum with a bronze in the final of the Girls 14 years 50m Breaststroke, adding a 12th place in the 100m event and a 16th in the 100m Freestyle.

Laying down their intentions, the local swimmers additionally clocked up another eight finals between them with Sutton SC’s Mia Fergie taking four in the Girls 14 years 100m butterfly event and sixth in the 200m individual medley, Ellis Malson seventh in the Girls 13 years 50m Backstroke, Chloe Quinn six th in the Girls 11/12 years 100m Butterfly and Kelsey Edwards sixth in the Boys 14 years 50m Freestyle.

Sherwood Colliery SC’s Rebecca Hyatt placed fifth in the Girls 11/12 years 200m Breaststroke final and eighth in the 100m event and Rebecca Flisher placed eighth in the 50m Backstroke final.

Additionally competing for medals, finals places and new, long course personal best times was Nova Centurion and Sherwood Colliery’s Joseph Sadler, placing 16th in the Boys 11/12 years 50m Freestyle, Nicholas Meldrum 19th in the Boys 11/12 years 50m freestyle, Katie Mellors 22nd in the Girls 14 years 50m backstroke and Evie Timms 11th in the Girls 14 years 100m freestyle and 12th in the 50m backstroke.

Joining them in the Nova Centurion squad was Sutton SC’s Matthew Woodhall, who placed 22nd in the Boys 11/12 years 50m butterfly and Jim Fergie 10th in the Boys 14yrs 50m butterfly and 11th in the 200m butterfly.

On the first weekend of the NESS Swimwear 2015 North East Regional Championships in Sheffield, Sherwood Colliery SC’s Owen Ottaway secured fifth for the City of Sheffield Squad in the Boys 14 yers 1500m freestyle additionally placing 14th in the 200m freestyle, 17th in the 400m individual Mmedley and 21st in the 100m Backstroke.

As the swimmers approach the final weeks of the 2015 season, the countdown is now on for selection to British Swimming’s Summer National Championships and the ASA’s English Championship events.
