If you want to watch Mansfield’s best boxers in action this weekend it’s not too late!
Despite the high demand for tickets for Mansfield Amateur Boxing Club’s ‘Sunday Best’ dinner and boxing show at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex on 21st October there is still a few seats remaining.
And the club has also arranged it so fans can pay on the door to watch the 15 bouts of top-class amateur boxing. These are £15 each and the doors open at 3pm.
All of Mansfield ABC’s boxers who are set to feature on the show recently took part in a four-hour Boxathon at the Body and Soul Gym, where the club is based.
Members of the gym and enthusiastic keep-fitters also took part in the gruelling 240-minute workout and helped raise over £500 to go towards paying the costs involved in affiliating the club and purchasing boxers’ kit which they will be wearing on the night.
Each ‘home’ boxer on the show has an extra incentive to perform to their best as the guest of honour is John Ashton, a former top professional boxer who will be ringside and choosing the best boxer of the night.
Mansfield’s Roger Brotherhood said: “In my opinion, this show promises to be the best boxing event held in Mansfield for the past few years. We’ve made sure all the boxers are in great shape and every one of them is more than capable of winning.
“The opponents are from the best clubs around the Midlands, including Spire ABC in Chesterfield- so there will be a bit of added rivalry there!
“But all the bouts are well-matched and fans can expect to see a fantastic display of amateur boxing.”
For more information on tickets for the four-course meal, call the gym on 01623 481881.
Dress code for the show is smart, strictly no denim or trainers allowed.
Mansfield ABC would like to thank John Fretwell Sports Complex, Mansfield Chad newspaper and the Miss Mansfield competitors, who will be ringcard girls on the night, for their support. They are also grateful to the show’s sponsors, Barrett Homes, Sherwood Hall Motors, Mitchells and Terrawise.
