Sherwood Colliery’s Lily Boseley (14) delivered a blistering performance at the British Championships as she stormed to success to take victory in the Womens Junior 100m Backstroke final.
It was made all the sweeter after she achieved a new British age group record of 1:02.35, which had previously held by Lizzie Simmonds since 2005.
Although just outside the consideration time for the European Junior Championships, Boseley will be hoping to have impressed the selectors after soaring down the Tollcross pool in the heats and leading from start to finish to post the fastest qualifying time for the evening’s final.
Swimming with the Nova Centurion squad, Lily rounded off her British Championships competing in the 200m Backstroke event, but missed out on a Junior final place finishing 15th in the heats.
She now travels to Lignano Sabbiadoro in Italy at the end of this month as part of an England Programmes squad to compete in the 2016 Energy Standard Cup International Swimming Meet.
