Six ice dancers from the Mansfield and Ashfield area will be flying the flag for Sutton’s Lammas Leisure Centre at the British Solo Championships, to be held at Ice Sheffield next week.

Isabel Harrison, Lillie Pang, Abbie Sumner, Reece Budd, Caitlin Smithurst and Freya Williams all train at the Lammas with their dance coaches.

All have reached a certain standard to be placed in the top 24 in the UK for their category, and now they hope to follow in the footsteps of UK ice dance idols Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland.

The sextet have already competed at events across the country, performing dances such as the foxtrot, blues and even the American waltz.

The competition will be tough at Sheffield, where they will perform two pattern dances and then a free dance routine, carefully and creatively choreographed and featuring difficult footwork, spins and twizzles.
