Fourty swimmers from Sutton Swimming Club competed this weekend at the Chesterfield Open Meet held at The Arc Leisure Centre, Matlock.
These 40 swimmers were aged between nine and 17 years-old and showed once again how the club continues to go from strength to strength by securing a host of medals across the full spectrum of events.
Ten year-old Keira Dobbs stole the show by being crowned the Top Girl at the Open meet, an achievement that earned her a £30 cash prize to add to her medal haul of nine Golds (50,100,200 Breast - 50,100,200 Butterfly, 200 Back, 200 Free and 200 Medley), three Silvers (50,100 Back and 50 Freestyle) and one Bronze medal (100 Freestyle).
She also smashed the all time short course Sutton Swimming Club record for a 10 year-old girl in the 100m Backstroke event with a time of 1.21.12.
The vast majority of Sutton SC swimmers achieved some level of success at this Open Meet with numerous Personal Best times being set and a large number of medals being won. Once again the Sutton swimmers were cheered on throughout the 2 days of competition by the Blue Army Supporters Group.
Head Coach Lee Bunker was delighted with the two days of swimming and thanked all his coaching team for assisting him to prepare the swimmers so excellently for this competition.
He said: “I am delighted with the squad effort over these two days. I am also confident that many of our swimmers will have achieved qualifying times for both County and Regional competitions to be held later this year or in early 2017.”
