Huthwaite’s GB Performance Team member Jamie Whiteman has been selected by the GB’s Figure Skating Governing body, NISA to represent Great Britain at the Junior World Figure Skating Championships in Milan, Italy, in March.

Countries from around the world will send their best 41 competitors to battle it out for the title at the Junior World Figure Skating Championships.

Jamie (18) qualified for this prestigious event by securing second place in the Mentor Nesquik Cup last month in Poland where 15 of the world’s best male figure skaters competed.

A former pupil of Ashfield Comprehensive, Jamie trains in Hull, but started his figure skating career at the old Sutton Ice rink.

He said: “I am truly honoured to be Great Britain’s only representative at this year’s World Championships.
