Two former world boxing champions, Johnny Nelson and Steve Collins, are heading for Mansfield as part of an entertainment-packed sports evening.
The gala event is being staged by HS Presents at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex on Sookholme Road this coming Saturday (September 19).
Sheffield fighter Nelson, 48, an ex-WBO cruiserweight champion and now a Sky Sports TV ringside host, will give insights into his distinguished career, which saw him successfully defend his title no fewer than 13 times over seven years and accrue a total of 45 wins.
Collins, 51, ‘The Celtic Warrior’, will give the lowdown on his glittering career, which landed him the WBO middleweight title before a move to super-middleweight when he defeated the previously unbeaten, long-reigning champion Chris Eubank.
The eagerly anticipated evening will be hosted by Paul Booth, who is regarded as one of the UK’s top boxing MCs. Tickets, priced from £12, will include an exclusive question-and-answer session and photo opportunities with Nelson and Collins, plus a memorabilia auction, free entry into a prize draw and an after-party opportunity at The Late Lounge nightclub on Leeming Street, Mansfield.
The event will also raise money to support youth and adult boxing in the town. For tickets, please ring HS Presents on 01623 401498 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
