Mansfield snooker fans were in for a treat as six-time World Champion Steve Davis served up an evening of entertainment at The Towers.
The superstar ace headed straight from the Crucible, where he had been a pundit at this year’s showcase, won by Stuart Bingham.
And 120 fans were at the Botany Avenue venue last Tuesday to watch Davis play a full evening of exhibition frames against members of the audience, as well as a number of trick shots.
Davis told amusing stories from his decades on the circuit and stayed until late to chat to the punters as well as offer advice to many of the snooker enthusiasts in attendance.
Another former world champion, Shaun Murphy, who was runner-up at the Crucible to Bingham earlier this month in Sheffield, has been lined up for Saturday 17th October, alongside John Virgo.
The Triple Crown winner and Virgo, a former UK champion and TV personality, will be at The Towers for another evening of entertainment. It will be the third night of its kind this year, following Ken Doherty’s appearance in February.
Organiser Tony Morgan, who plays for the Towers, said: “Steve was absolutely brilliant. It was a fantastic night of snooker and entertainment and everybody had a great time.
“Steve even texted the next day just to say how great a night it was, being among snooker fans at a local club
“We have Shaun Murphy lined up, alongside John Virgo, for later in the year which should be another fantastic night.”
