Sutton Sting were beaten 9-1 by league leaders Blackburn Hawks.
The Sting knew this would be a tough game against a Blackburn side they have never beaten.
It took just four minutes Blackburn scored a delayed penalty goal when assistant Adam Brittle found the back of the net.
Sting put up a good fight and in the next five minutes Blackburn’s Oliver Lomax got a cross checking penalty, which allowed Sutton’s assistant Ryan Johnson shoot a brilliant Powerplay goal.
Sutton’s good mood was shortlived when Oliver Lomax got the lead on the Sting and scored an even handed unassisted goal.
The Hawks lead 2-1 going into the second and it took 10 minutes for the Hawks to score another when Jordan Bannon got his first point of the game.
However Sutton’s tempo had dropped allowing David Meikle to score past Zimozdra.
And then another slid past Sting’s goalie with Hawks’ Mattew Viney getting a goal.
Hawks now led at 5-1 and Dimitri Zimozdra had enough as Sutton’s Backup goalie skated to the crease for the final 10 minutes of the game.
After just one minute of being in the net, Daniel Mackriel scored a Powerplay goal against the backup keeper Andy Bagshaw.
The Hawks continued to show why they were the top of the league when Richard Hughes scored to make it 7-1.
Blackburn kept up the one way traffic as they bagged two more goals to secure an empahtic 9-1 win.
