Hard hit by low overall numbers, the half-term holidays and a few injuries Mansfield Harriers’ U13s and U15s took a small yet select group of 10 to Corby for the second fixture of the Youth Development League.

Good weather produced a string of personal best performances, pleasing team manager Chris Ashmore who was delighted with the effort and commitment of his team.

At U13 level Daisy Smith and Libby Bell scored a double victory in the long jump, Smith winning the A with 4.08m and Bell the B with a best jump of 3.76m.

The pair also both finished second over 75m and produced PBs in the javelin.

Angel Foreman and Katie Squires also scored top points over 150m and with the same time of 22.4, both were also rewarded with PBs.

Laura Herrod led the way at U15 level, leaping 4.56m to win the long jump and making it a double victory with a 27.6 PB over 200m.

Hannah Shaw finished second in the 100m, the shot and the 800m whilst May Roberts chalked up personal bests in all her events – taking third spot in the 200m, LJ and 1500m.

Emma Ramsbotham and Immany Miezah both contributed well to the overall points tally, Ramsbotham in the 75m H, HJ and 100m and Miezah in the 800m, Shot and Relay.

Cameron Walker was the only male athlete to make the trip and, despite a slight muscle niggle, took advantage of the good conditions to clock a PB of 4:45.2 over 1500m.
