Busy weekend for Sutton Harriers

Members of Sutton Harriers had a busy weekend as they took part in a number of races.

Sammy Roe and John Dale competed in the Grindleford Gallop , which is a 21 mile mullti-terrain course.

Starting from Grindleford, Derbyshire, Sammy, and John ran along flat fields before the first hill climb and down into Eyam.

This was followed by another climb up though the moors onto White Peak and down again and through Great Longstone and along the Monsal Trail to Bakewell.

On they went with yet another steep climb though a wood until at the top it was downhill though Chatsworth Park and onto Baslow.

They then climbed to Froggatt Edge and downhill though woods over streams and to the finish, with a time 5hrs 44min for both of them.

On Sunday 14 Harriers competed in the Retford Half Marathon Road Race with many using it as a time trail for either the Manchester/London Marathons.

First to finish for Sutton in third place was Paul Whittingham in the male veteran 50-59 event, in a time of 1hr 16min 51secs.
