Millers deny leaders aslast-wicket pair survive

Number 11 Kyle Garside survived 15 balls, hitting a four in his six not out, as the Millers denied leaders Carrington and Carrington (261-9) victory by closing on 211 for nine to earn a losing draw.

Garside was guided through the final overs by Daniel Harris, who hit four fours in his 29 not out from 39 balls as the bottom club, still looking for their first win, gained 10 points.

Kunal Manek took three for 44 for the Millers, and there were two wickets apiece for Anuk Sampathawaduge Fernando and Chamikara Mudalige.

In reply, the visitors were reduced to 74 for five before. Kamal Manak (47) was joined by Patrick Delahunty (40) in a stand of 76.

Manak hit five fours and wicketkeeper Delahunty seven.

When they both fell quickly the game looked to be lost at 169 for nine.

However, Harris and Garside had other ideas as Hosiery Mills closed the gap slightly on second-from-bottom Hucknall.

Third-placed Cuckney took advantage of the leaders’ slip-up as they beat Radcliffe by five wickets to close the gap to the top to 19 points.

Visitors Radcliffe recovered from 115 for seven to make 198 for eight as five bowlers shared the wickets.

The home side made light work of the run-chase. James Hawley hit 35 in an opening stand of 70 with Tom Keast, who added 87 with Will Butler (41).

Keast struck 82 as Cuckney made their target with almost 10 overs to spare.
