Household names McDonald’s and Slimming World are among the organisations supporting the event, which will raise money for the Mansfield-based charity, Reach Learning Disability.

And additional backing has come from Mansfield Building Society and Mansfield District Council as the countdown begins to the race, which takes place on Sunday, August 21.

Local McDonald’s franchisee Jacqui Moore is the main event sponsor for 2016. Jacqui started her career at McDonald’s more than 20 years ago and now runs three restaurants across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, including the one on West Gate in Mansfield town centre. She provides jobs for more than 150 people in the area.

“I am delighted to be supporting the Mansfield 10k this year and wish all the runners the best of luck,” said Jacqui.

“As a local business owner, it’s great to see events like this taking place in Mansfield, and I’m honoured to be sponsoring the race alongside some other fantastic local enterprises.

“As a local business, we are always looking for new ways to be part of the community, whether that’s through sponsorships like this, environmental initiatives, or even just through offering a restaurant with a great atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.”

The Mansfield 10k is back for a second successive year after proving incredibly popular in 2015. It comes with an improved route as runners will now complete two laps starting and ending in the Market Place among the cheering faces of friends, family and spectators.

With such backing from participants and sponsors alike, the organisers hope that the Mansfield 10k is here to stay and set to get bigger each year.

The Mayor of Mansfield, Coun Kate Allsop, has offered her own backing for the Mansfield 10k and welcomes the partnership of Mansfield District Council with Reach.

“We’re glad to support such a worthy charity and are honoured to be working in partnership on such a fantastic event for our town,” said Coun Allsop. “We encourage as many runners as possible to sign up.”
