Mansfield's Elliot Clogg ready to take Glasgow by storm at British Swimming Championships

Mansfield's Elliot Clogg is celebrating after qualifying for this year's British Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

The 16-year-old will head to Scotland for the event which also serves as a selection meet for the European Juniors which take place in Hungary in July.

Clogg, a pupil at Meden Academy and member of City of Sheffield Swimming squad, will be hoping to catch the eye of the selectors after impressive performances recently at the Edinburgh International Meet, a key component of athlete preparation ahead of the Championships.

Bringing his early season race preparation to a close and competing in and amongst a global field of swimming’s elite, Elliot stormed to victory with three golds in the Mens’17-18-year-olds 50m, 100m & 200m Backstroke events.

He recorded times quicker than some of the swimmers in the Mens’ Senior finals.

As well as his favoured backstroke events, Elliot also recorded a third-placed podium bronze in the 50m Freestyle.

Having fulfilled a life-long dream of representing his country and pulling on the prestigious Team GB colours at last year’s European Youth Olympic Festival, Elliot will now complete his final block of work in the pool before heading to Glasgow next month.
