Mansfield seeks sports stars of the year for awards ceremony sporting stars of the year

The hunt is on to find Mansfield District’s unsung sporting heroes to give them the recognition they deserve.

Mansfield District Council, in association with the Armchair Club and Chad, is seeking nominations for the Mansfield Sports Recognition Awards 2013.

Ten awards are up for grabs at this year’s presentation evening, which will take place on Monday 9th December at John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme, Mansfield, from 7pm-9pm.

Nominations are sought for achievements between 1st November 2012 and 31st October 2013 in the following categories:

Junior team of the year

Junior sportsperson of the year

Junior sports leader of the year

Junior disabled sportsperson of the year

Club of the year

Disabled sportsperson of the year

Sportsperson of the year

Coach of the year

Team of the year

Volunteer of the year (this also includes referees, officials, administrators etc)

The Executive Mayor of Mansfield Tony Egginton said: “The awards are a great opportunity to recognise the many hardworking and dedicated sportspeople, coaches, volunteers and teams within sports clubs across the district.

“It would be fantastic to receive lots of nominations showcasing the excellent local sporting achievements in 2012/13.”

Entry forms are available from sports clubs and leisure centres across the District, or by calling Sports Facilitator Martin Cook at the District Council on 01623 463 026. Alternatively, you can fill in a nomination form online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/nominate

Nominees must either live or pursue their sport within the Mansfield District. A photograph of the nominee/s should be sent via email to [email protected] for use at the awards presentation event.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 15th November 2013.
