Mansfield Hosiery Mills pick up vital NPL points

Mansfield Hosiery Mills registered some much-needed points on the board for their fight for Notts Premier League survival at home to Kimberley Institute.

Putting the visitors into bat first, Kimberley made 242-8 from their allotted 50 overs which included impressive innings from Sam Johnson (54), George Bacon (41) and Dominic Brown (41) - as well as a monumental 50 extras.

Savin Perera was the pick of the Mansfield HM bowlers with 3-31 from 10 overs.

While the home side fell just short in their run chase, finishing on 228-9 from 50 overs, with Perera top scoring with 57. Kunal Manek made an unbeaten 36, from 33 deliveries which included five fours and one six, Patrick Delahunty hit 29 and number 10 Chamikara Mudalige made 22 from 13 balls chasing victory.

But it wasn’t to be as they finished 14 runs short of Kimberley’s total, enough for 11 points.
