The men’s team were made up of a team of 12, each completing either 2.6 mile or 4.9 mile legs, whilst the women were teams of six.
The men’s team were led by top veteran Mark Johnson, who due to a slight back injury was forced to compete in one of the shorter 2.6 mile legs, when normally Johnson would have underpinned an early advantage for the Harriers, by forging out a high early placing by running a longer leg.
Nevertheless, both the teams put in a solid performances, despite having several team members in the latter stages of heavy training for the London Marathon in just four weeks time, with the men’s team finishing 26th, just one place off qualifying for the Nationals, and the women finishing 25th.
