Leaders Clipstone just two games from Bassetlaw League title
Leaders Clipstone and Bilsthorpe took another giant stride towards the Championship title in the Bassetlaw League by battering bottom-of-the-table Blidworth Colliery Welfare.
The nine-wicket win left Clipstone 21 points clear of second-placed Notts and Arnold Amateurs with two matches to play, both against mid-table Thoresby Colliery.
After putting Blidworth into bat, Clipstone were held up only by opening bat Antonio Leroy Greenidge, who scored 57 (one six and six fours) and more than half of his side’s final, paltry total of 106.
Onlt one other player, fellow opener David Willcock (19), reached double figures as Blidworth collapsed from 60-2 and 72-3 in the face of terrific bowling by Najun Nizar Mohamed Faslan (5-23 in 15 overs) and Ian Woodall (3-30 from 8.5 overs), who claimed the prized scalp of Greenidge.
Clipstone and Bilsthorpe’s reply was a formality as Ameesh Kaul (50no, ten fours) and Adam Dutton (48no, one six and seven fours) raced them to 107-1 in 15 overs with an unbroken second-wicket partnership worth 99. The only wicket to fall was that of Mark Wyatt, trapped lbw for seven by new-ball bowler Hayden Walters.
