Ivor red hot as Winter League opens with frozen lake

A half frozen lake greeted the 17 anglers who turned out for round one of the Sherwood Winter League, but thanks to the help of the Sherwood Forest Farm Park Fishery staff all the pegs were fishable for the start of the match.

Ivor Birkin made no mistakes on end peg 26 to romp home with an 8lb 11oz net of ide, perch and skimmers

Ian Boyd claimed second spot from peg 18 with 6lb of chunky perch on pole and maggot and Nick Oakley completed the main frame thanks to a late run of roach in the last hour to finish with 4lb 0.5oz.
