Hucknall and Linby Dolphins finished third in a close run JC Dobb Trophy gala at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Facing opposition from top local teams Ilkeston, Kimberley, Sutton, Portland and Radford, Dolphins held third spot from the halfway mark to the end.

Three wins, four runners up spots and seven thirds accounted for a their points tally.

Mark Turner took gold in 14U 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and Lynden Johnson won gold in 12U 50m Freestyle.

Lauren Daft and Hettie Chambers earned runner up spots in the 12U 50m Breaststroke and U12 Freestyle respectively, while silver in the 12U Freestyle relay was bought home by Chambers, Brianna Brown, Daft and Freya Sims.

The 14U medley relay also saw Brianna, Lynden, Mark and Lauren claiming a great second place.

And there were thirds for Mark 14U Backstroke, Isabella Coleman 10U Backstroke and 10U Freestyle, Luka Gospel 10U Breaststroke, Hayley Goodwin Open Butterfly, and relay team thirds in the Mixed Breaststroke 8/9-year-old for Ellie Norris, Katie Hill, Luka Gospel and Mason Downs and again in the 8/9-year-old Medley for Josh Kemp, Alexa Sherratt, Jake Kemp and Katie Hill.

Personal bests for Megan Flint (2), Mark Turner (2), Lauren Daft (2), Curtis Flint (2), Luka Gospel (3), Lynden Johnson (2), Josh Kemp, Mason Sims (2), Katie Hill, Jordan Fretwell and Hayley Goodwin helped to bring in the remainder of points.

A spokesperson said: ‘With an amazing 19 personal bests, all the hard work the swimmers, coaches and volunteers have put in is really beginning to pay off, well done everyone.’
