In total, nine swimmers returned home with 12 golds, four silvers and seven bronzes, but Trueman and Potter led the way.

Following on from his collection of two golds and a silver from the first weekend of action at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre in Nottingham, 15-year-old Trueman produced some outstanding performances.

He added five golds and a silver, while some of the times he achieved in his strongest events placed him among the top-ranked swimmers in Britian for his age group, making qualification for the British and English Championships in the summer a real possibility if he can maintain his terrific form.

Trueman’s victories came in the 200m backstroke, 400m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m freestyle, with a particularly impressive time, and 50m butterfly, which he dominated to clock a personal-best (PB) time. His silver was in the 50m butterfly.

Eleven-year-old Potter added five golds to the one he won on the first weekend of action, and also posted an excellent PB in landing the 400m freestyle.

He bossed the 50m butterfly to win comfortably, two seconds clear of the runners-up, and went on to win the finals of the 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

For good measure, Potter took two bronze medals too, in the 100m breatstroke and 200m breaststroke.
