Harriers out in force for 10Ks

Mansfield Harriers senior men and women had a busy weekend on the roads competing at both the Bolsover 10k and the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon with both races quickly reaching capacity and providing strong fields.

In addition to this, several also competed in the Edwinstowe 10K last Sunday again another race that was quickly full.

By far the biggest contingent of blue and green vests was seen at the Bolsover 10k one of the last big local races of the year with 15 Mansfield athletes completing the course.

First home for Mansfield was Jonny Lowe who put in a storming performance to finish 12th overall in a time of 36.14 and in doing so took second position in the over 50 category.

Only five seconds behind in 13th position was Chris Allcock who also claimed first prize in the over 40 category crossing the line in 36.19.

Ged Naylor continued the success taking third in the over 55 age group for 69th overall and a time of 40.03. Martin Fickling was next Harrier through the line in 79th place recoding 40.32 followed by Chris Martin 131st 43.09, Bryan Borrill 143rd 43.53, Julian Ward 235th 47.24, Colin Fell 370th 51.19 and Pete Copcutt 369th in a time of 51.13.

For the ladies, first in for the club was Eva Williams who was superb throughout recording a finishing time of 45.53 which was good enough for 184th place and a fantastic second place in the over 50 category.

Maddy Collinge was 352nd overall in a time of 50.30 a time good enough to earn her third place in the over 65 category. Next in for the club was Christine Fell in 371st with a time of 51.20.

Angela Purdue had a superb run smashing her previous best time with 52.25 for 402nd place, Mel Ceney ran her second 10k personal best in a week with 56.54 for 545th and Tina Copcutt completed the turnout showing she is well on the way back from recent injury with a time of 57.10 for 552nd place nearly two minutes faster than her run the week before.

At Keyworth first back for Mansfield was the fast improving Karen Kowalski who had a great run to finish in a time of 1.54.04 for a position of 565th.

Close behind was Jackie Duers in a time of 1.55.24 for 590th, Lyndsey Stevenson 894th in 2.27.56 and Caroline Rye in 895th running 2.27.57.

The Edwinstowe 10k raced last weekend saw some great performances from the Mansfield contingent. First in on the day was Pete Copcutt finishing in 51.12. Copcutt was closely followed by Jackie Duers in 52.13, Tina Copcutt 58.56, Mel Ceney 61.43 and Michelle Baxter 63.02.

The final three athletes all put in great personal performances all running new best times with Latia Renshaw 65.58, Theresa Copcutt 1.10.34 and Sally Wilson 1.28.28.
