Rising Ollerton golf star Albie among four locals selected for prestigious England Golf Regional Squads
Rising Ollerton star Albie Walker is among four local youngsters selected for the prestigious England Golf Regional Squads.
The Regional Coaching Programme serves as a vital pathway, guiding talented young golfers from County Talent Programmes into the England Golf National Squads.

Playing at Abbeydale Golf Club in Sheffield, Albie has been chosen for the Yorkshire Region Boys, but is just 14 years old in what is an U18 squad.
Also chosen for the East Midlands Boys are William Psensko, 15, and Harry Banner, 16, while Millie Marsh, 15, is in the East Midlands Girls squad – all play at Sherwood Forest Golf Club in Mansfield.
Albie said: “It feels great to be part of such a fantastic team.
“It gives me the chance to learn from others in the squad but also to challenge myself against them so I can keep improving and perform at the best of my ability.”
Parents Jamie and Chloe said: “We're incredibly proud of Albie in everything he does.
“It's wonderful to watch him throw himself into a sport he truly loves and even better to see how determined he is to keep improving.”
Designed to nurture the next generation of champions, the Regional Coaching programme focuses on developing players capable of excelling at both national and international levels.
England Golf Deputy Performance Director Steve Burnett said: “England Golf aims to support a strong, aligned and inclusive performance pathway from club to national level, in order to identify, recruit, develop, support and retain world-class golfers capable of performing and winning at the highest levels of amateur golf.
“The Regional Performance Programme is a vital part of the pathway and it bridges the gap for young players showing promise at county level to push on and improve sufficiently to go on and play for England in the near future.
“The Regional Squads have helped produce a large number of world-class male and female golfers while creating life-long affiliations with the game.
“At every level of the pathway we aim to provide fun, engaging and individualised opportunities to help the player as a person and a golfer.”
