Could startlet Charlotte be golf’s next big name?

With an impressive handicap of 12, that has been reduced from 27 since April, and an increasing number of titles, startlet Charlotte is hoping to be the next big name in women’s golf.

The South Normanton youngster started playing golf at the Kirkby club with her coach Darren Moule when she was eight years old.

Now, four years on she has developed into a well-established player.

Moule said: “Both Charlotte and her parents are dedicated to the sport. Her parents drive her around the country to competitions on a regular basis.”

Already Charlotte a variety of successes to her name including tied 21st England U13 Girls Championships, the youngest person to win the Derbyshire Schools Match Play, Beeston Fields Junior Open Girls Champion, Midland North Girls Championship Nett Trophy and the Nottinghamshire County Golf Partnership Junior Order of Merit, to name but a few.

The next step for Charlotte is to start competing overseas.

Successes like these don’t come without the support of committed coaches like Moule, who is constantly helping Charlotte to continue to develop as a player, keeping her on top of her game, erasing any bad habits.

He hopes that success stories like Charlotte’s will inspire other juniors to take up the sport.

He said: “Like every sport, golf is crying out for more juniors to participate, as it’s the junior players who are the future of the sport.”
