Former champions Ravenshead Rascals (now Royals) back with a bang

After a year off, the 2014/15 champions, Ravenshead Rascals (now Royals), returned with a bang to get the new Mansfield and District Table Tennis League, First Division season off to a flier.

Royals started with a 7-3 victory over the team who came third last year, Ravenshead Rangers, and because their main likely rivals for the title, Zygabyte A, had a free week, they immediately took top spot. The previous week’s Autumn Cup winner, Gareth Godber, took the player-of-the-match award after winning all his matches.

In other Division One fixtures, Jacksdale B beat Zygabyte B 6-4, despite a player-of-the-match performance for the losers by the unbeaten Alex Millward, also returning after 12 months away. And Jacksdale A defeated newly-promoted Snipers of St Joseph’s A 6-4.

The early leaders in Division Two are Ravenshead Rebels and Snipers of St Josephs B after 7-3 wins.
