Youthful Southwell City too good for Hucknall Rolls Leisure

Slipshod Hucknall Rolls Leisure offered no excuses after producing their worst performance of the Central Midlands League, South Division season on Wednesday night.

Youthful Southwell City might be struggling at the wrong end of the table, but they inflicted a deserved 3-1 defeat on Rolls, who were poor throughout.

Not only did the home side ease into a three-goal lead inside the first 25 minutes with a couple of goals from set-plays and a sweet strike from 20 yards, they also hit the woodwork twice.

Rolls pulled one back five minutes before the interval with a neat turn and finish from 12 yards by striker Jack Allen.

But they rarely threatened Southwell in the second half, relying too much on the long ball. Allen and skipper Greg Conn were the only players to show anything like their best form.

The home team always looked dangerous and should have added to their tally as they bossed the game to the end.
