Mansfield Town are rumoured to have held initial talks with Preston over a deal for striker Michael Smith.

Smith banged in the goals at Rotherham during a 2021/22 promotion-winning campaign before moving to Sheffield Wednesday and then Preston.

But he’s struggled for game time this season and hasn’t made a start since January 20.

The talks have been revealed by the Lancashire Post who believe a deal for the 34 year old is in the pipeline.
