Stags had never mentioned Peterborough as a potential destination, but MacAnthony went public to accuse Stags of ‘using’ Posh to bump up interest in the striker and claims the player was offered to them via a private conversation between Radford and Posh director of football Barry Fry.

“As I mentioned earlier this week when asked, we have received transfer bids for strikers Danny Rose and Lee Angol.

“Both are good players and are well-valued members of our squad.

“Furthermore, and for clarity, we had not and will not reveal the identity of the bidding clubs out of professional courtesy.

“It should be noted that it is not uncommon, in my experience, for in-demand players to be subject to media speculation in an attempt by others to unsettle them during transfer windows.

“We will continue to conduct our business in the right way and are in a very good place right now – as a club and squad - ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday.

“We will keep supporters abreast of any developments wherever possible.”
